A fresh wave of speculation has erupted around Keira Knightley’s marriage after her husband James Righton was spotted without his wedding ring — just weeks after the actress quietly removed his surname from official records tied to her £11million company.
The 42-year-old musician, best known as the former frontman of Klaxons, was seen cycling through north London wearing a colourful plaid jacket and a cap reading “I don’t work here.” But it wasn’t his outfit that caught attention — it was the absence of the gold band he has worn since their 2013 wedding in the South of France.
Looking noticeably serious, James later stopped to chat with a friend, but the missing ring has only added fuel to growing questions about the state of their relationship.
The couple — who share daughters Edie, 10, and Delilah, 6 — were last seen together publicly during London Fashion Week in February 2026. That same month, Keira, 41, quietly triggered concern when official documents revealed she had dropped “Righton” from her name.
At Companies House, she is now listed as Keira Christine Knightley, having previously used Keira Christina Righton for business purposes. The change relates to her performing arts company, which holds assets worth over £11million.
Interestingly, the decision appears to mark a reversal. Back in 2021, Keira had adopted her husband’s surname for official use after what she described as “a lot of soul-searching.” Yet even earlier, in 2014, she admitted she struggled with the idea, saying she couldn’t bring herself to fully commit to the change after seeing it written down.
Adding another layer to the mystery, the actress recently revealed she had sold the French vineyard where the couple married — a deeply personal property they once described as a passion project. The estate, known as Les Cinq Puits in the Rhône Valley near Mont Ventoux, held special meaning as the site of their intimate 2013 wedding.
Despite their famously private lifestyle, Keira has occasionally shared glimpses into their relationship. Reflecting on their tenth anniversary, she joked it was “a miracle to have made it this far.”
