Helen Skelton has shared a rare and emotional insight into what she truly wants from love and relationships — just months after repeatedly denying rumours she is dating BBC co-star Gethin Jones.
The Morning Live presenter, 42, reflected on her romantic hopes while discussing her BBC series Lost and Found in the Lakes, admitting she still dreams of finding a lasting love that can survive “all the nonsense life throws at you.”

Speaking about the programme, which follows experts recovering treasured possessions from lakes across the Lake District, Helen revealed that some of the stories deeply affected her emotionally.
She explained that many of the recovered items carry huge sentimental value, recalling one touching story involving a ring that had belonged to a man’s wife of 40 years.
Helen said: “It really taps into the value of sentiment, which is kind of an old fashioned thing in this day and age.”
The TV star then admitted the romantic stories had made her reflect on her own future, adding: “You’re giving them back a ring that they lost ages ago. They start talking about the day that they met 60 years ago and the old romantic in me goes, ‘Oh, I want that!’”
In an especially heartfelt moment, Helen continued: “I watch all these couples walk out of here and I’m like that’s life goals isn’t it? To spend your whole life with someone navigating ups and downs, jobs, kids, everything that life throws at you and life throws nonsense at you.”
“To still be holding someone’s hand at the end of all that is… that’s the payday.”

Her comments come after months of speculation surrounding her close friendship with fellow Morning Live presenter Gethin Jones.
The pair sparked rumours after being seen together at several public events, including spa trips and the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, where fans claimed they appeared especially close.
However, Helen has repeatedly insisted there is nothing romantic happening between them.
In an interview late last year, she firmly shut down the speculation, saying: “We just work together, we are not together. No, no, no. We are just work friends.”
She also laughed off reports that photos of them together proved anything more than friendship, explaining they were simply spending time together because of work commitments.
Gethin has also spoken warmly about Helen in previous interviews, describing their bond as incredibly supportive both on and off camera.
“We are very supportive of each other, we like do look out for each other,” he said. “You sometimes might need a little pep talk every now and then. Because she’s very passionate.”
Helen was previously married to rugby player Richie Myler, with whom she shares three children. The couple separated in 2022 after eight years of marriage, with Helen confirming at the time that Richie had left the family home.
Since the split, the presenter has kept her private life largely out of the spotlight — making her latest emotional comments about love and lifelong companionship all the more poignant for fans.
