Sophie Habboo Stuns With Glamorous Postpartum Comeback — But It’s the Haunting Emergency C-Section in Raising Chelsea That Truly Leaves Viewers Shocked

Sophie Habboo made a stunning appearance at the premiere of her new Disney+ series Raising Chelsea, stepping out in a black lace dress just three months after giving birth to her son Ziggy. Joining her on the red carpet was husband Jamie Laing, with the pair looking every bit the loved-up new parents as they celebrated the launch of the intimate three-part series.

The show follows Sophie and Jamie over the course of a year and a half as they prepare for life as first-time parents, while also navigating career pressures, relationship tensions, and the chaos of renovating a new home ahead of their baby’s arrival. The couple, who first met on Made In Chelsea in 2017 and married in Spain six years later, welcomed baby Ziggy in December.

But while the glamorous premiere showcased Sophie’s radiant postpartum confidence, the newly released trailer for Raising Chelsea revealed a far more emotional and frightening reality behind the scenes. In one of the most dramatic moments, Jamie explained that Sophie had to undergo an emergency C-section after doctors discovered that the baby’s arm was through the cervix.

Speaking directly to camera, Jamie said: “Bad news is that the baby, his arm is through the cervix. She needs to have an emergency C-section.” The raw footage then shows Sophie in tears, terrified as the couple hold hands and prepare for the sudden change in her birth plan.

The trailer begins with the pair heading to The Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital, full of anticipation and hope. “We think it’s happening,” Sophie says, as Jamie excitedly adds: “Let’s go guys!” But the mood quickly shifts as the reality of the complications becomes clear.

Reflecting on their journey, Jamie says: “We met on a legendary reality show, Made In Chelsea and things have been crazy ever since… TV shows, brands, podcasts, and we’re having a baby.” Sophie, meanwhile, opens up about how deeply she had longed for motherhood, saying: “I’ve always wanted to be a mum… pregnancy is a rollercoaster. The excitement of being a mum and the love I feel…”

The series does not shy away from the harder moments of their relationship either. In one tense scene, Jamie admits: “I’m stressed. I’m tried,” while Sophie hits back: “You just go behind my back. That’s so unacceptable.” Despite their rows, Jamie also jokes about their dynamic at home, saying: “The dynamic between Sophie and I, she’s the boss and I’m the intern.”

Their families and close friends are heavily involved throughout the series, including Sophie’s parents Sarah and Patrique, her sister Georgia, Jamie’s mother Penny, and close pal Sam Thompson. Penny even jokes in one memorable moment: “This pregnancy, you’d think the Messiah was arriving.”

By the time baby Ziggy is born, the mood shifts from fear to overwhelming relief. Sophie says: “I’ve never felt more excited to meet somebody in my whole life,” capturing the emotional turning point that defines the series.

Sophie has also spoken candidly about the pressure women face after giving birth, especially around the idea of “snapping back.” She said she has felt judged no matter what, explaining: “If you haven’t snapped back, people are going to say something. If you have snapped back, people are going to say something.”

She added that becoming a mother has changed the way she sees herself, saying: “I feel stronger and I have much more respect for myself. I speak more kindly to myself. Ziggy’s my priority and I don’t put as much pressure on what I look like because my brain is thinking about him and it’s actually quite freeing and liberating.”

With its mix of glamour, vulnerability, relationship tension and deeply personal moments, Raising Chelsea looks set to give fans a far more emotional portrait of Sophie and Jamie than ever before.
