Katie Price’s children Princess and Junior Andre have revealed they discovered their mother’s shock engagement to Lee Andrews through a simple text message in the family WhatsApp group — a moment they say left them completely stunned.
The former glamour model, 47, surprised fans last month when she tied the knot with businessman Lee Andrews, 43, in Dubai after what has been described as a whirlwind romance lasting just one week. But it turns out the news came as just as much of a shock to her own children as it did to the public.
Speaking in a new interview with The Sun, the siblings admitted they were blindsided by the sudden announcement.
Princess, 18, recalled the moment the message appeared in their family chat. She said the text from her mum announcing the engagement left her speechless, adding that her immediate reaction was simply “OMG.” She admitted that while Katie has always been impulsive, this felt like a whole new level.
Princess explained that she still knows very little about Lee, other than the fact that he proposed after knowing her mother for just a week.
Her brother Junior, 20, revealed he had an equally stunned reaction. He said he responded in the chat saying he was completely confused and described the news as a “bombshell,” admitting that at the time he had no idea what to think. He added that the speed of the relationship felt “weird,” especially as he had never met Lee himself.
Despite their surprise, Junior was careful to stress that he still supports his mother. He insisted Katie is “not a bad person” and described her as a “great mum,” saying that the most important thing to him is that she is treated with respect in her new marriage.
The siblings had previously addressed the situation during an appearance on ITV’s This Morning, where they were promoting the upcoming second series of their reality show The Princess Diaries.
During the interview, Princess confirmed that she had still not met her mother’s new husband.
Junior explained that although the situation had been surprising, their mother is her own person and free to make her own decisions. He said that as long as she is happy, the family will continue to support her.
Princess agreed with her brother’s sentiment, saying that if their mum is happy, then they are happy too.
The conversation also touched on a more positive development within the family — the long-running feud between Katie Price and her ex-husband Peter Andre.
The former couple, who married in 2005 after meeting on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, split in 2009 following a turbulent relationship. Their bitter fallout lasted for years, but the siblings revealed that their parents have now finally called a truce after 16 years.
According to sources, the children played a key role in helping bring about the reconciliation, encouraging both parents to move forward and leave the past behind.
Fans will see more of that evolving family dynamic in the new season of The Princess Diaries, which follows Princess and Junior as cameras document their personal lives, careers and relationships.
The series will still feature appearances from both of their parents, along with Peter’s wife Emily, though Princess explained that all three adults have agreed to step back slightly from the spotlight this time around.
Junior said the family hopes to move forward together and suggested viewers might see even more unity if the show returns for a third season.
Katie’s whirlwind romance has continued to spark headlines in recent weeks. The star became engaged to Lee just days after her split from reality star JJ Slater, and records later appeared to confirm the pair formally registered their marriage on February 17.
The relationship has also been surrounded by controversy. Recently, Katie claimed in a fiery social media post that she is expecting a child with Lee, writing that they are “building our empire” together as she prepares to have his baby.
