TV icon Carol Smillie has left fans doing a double take after sharing a rare glimpse into her private family life — and many couldn’t believe just how little she has changed.
The former Changing Rooms star, now 64, took to Instagram to post a series of sun-soaked snaps from a family holiday in Brooklyn, New York. Joined by her husband Alex Knight, their son Robbie, 28, and his girlfriend Madeline te Riele, Carol looked effortlessly radiant as she smiled for relaxed selfies and candid moments over coffee and smoothies.
Captioning the post simply “Brooklyn Baby,” Carol may have kept her words minimal — but the reaction from fans was anything but.
Many were quick to point out her seemingly ageless appearance, with some remarking she looked almost identical to her heyday on 90s television. Others, however, were equally distracted by her “silver fox” husband Alex, with one fan gushing that it was a “gorgeous looking family” and adding that “your husband is lush,” while another chimed in to say he was “as handsome as ever.”
The couple, who have been married since 1991, share three children together — Robbie and daughters Jodie, 27, and Christie, 31 — and have largely kept their family life out of the spotlight, making this rare insight all the more special for followers.
Carol first rose to fame as the glamorous assistant on Wheel of Fortune between 1989 and 1994, before becoming a household name as the face of Changing Rooms from 1996 to 2003. Despite her popularity, she was notably absent from the show’s 2021 reboot — a decision that left many long-time viewers disappointed.
In recent years, Carol has quietly stepped away from mainstream television and reinvented herself entirely. After launching her own leak-proof underwear brand DiaryDoll in 2012 — which she later stepped away from in 2018 — she embraced a new path under her married name, Carol King.
Since joining the Humanist Society Scotland, she has trained as a humanist celebrant and now officiates weddings, naming ceremonies and funerals — a far cry from her days on primetime TV, but one she appears to have embraced wholeheartedly.
And if these latest photos are anything to go by, Carol isn’t just thriving professionally — she’s glowing personally too.
