Sharon Osbourne has revealed that an unexpected trip to hospital prevented her from attending the unveiling of a towering tribute to her late husband, rock icon Ozzy Osbourne.
The 73-year-old TV personality broke her silence on social media after fans noticed she was absent from Hellfest in France, where a huge 20ft statue honouring the Black Sabbath legend was officially unveiled.
Addressing her followers, Sharon explained: “I’m sorry I couldn’t be at Hellfest for the unveiling of Ozzy’s statue.”
She continued: “Unfortunately I had an unexpected trip to the hospital earlier in the week.”
Despite missing the emotional occasion, Sharon thanked those behind the tribute, adding: “A big thank you Olivier Garnier, Ben Barbaud and everyone at Hellfest. Special thank you to @philippe_pasqua_officiel for the absolutely stunning statue!”

The striking monument, which depicts Ozzy with his arms raised, was unveiled at the French metal festival almost a year after the legendary rocker’s death.
Ozzy Osbourne died in July last year at the age of 76 following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. The Black Sabbath frontman spent his final years surrounded by family, with wife Sharon remaining by his side throughout his health struggles.
In recent weeks, Sharon has begun making major changes following her husband’s passing. She has put the Los Angeles mansion they shared on the market for $17 million (£13 million) and is preparing to move into an apartment.
However, the family still owns their Grade II-listed Georgian estate in Buckinghamshire, where Ozzy was laid to rest.
Ozzy’s farewell concert in Birmingham last summer proved to be one of the most memorable events of his career, selling out and raising millions of pounds. Proceeds from the show were donated to three causes close to the family’s heart — Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Meanwhile, the Osbourne family recently revealed they are hoping to buy back the Beverly Hills mansion made famous by their hit MTV reality series The Osbournes, bringing another piece of the family’s history back into their hands.
