Gemma Arterton has revealed she has secretly welcomed her second child with her husband Rory Keenan, sharing the joyful news in the most low-key way imaginable.
The actress, 40, who married Peaky Blinders star Rory in 2019, is already a proud mum to their first child, a son born in 2024. While she chose to keep details about her newborn under wraps — including the baby’s name and gender — she gave fans a rare glimpse into her life as a mum-of-two.

Opening up on the Dish podcast with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, Gemma casually dropped the bombshell, saying she had “just had another kid” and is now fully immersed in early motherhood again. She admitted the experience has been intense but rewarding, explaining she’s currently “in the thick of that,” adding that despite the exhaustion, “it’s all lovely.”
She went on to describe the familiar struggle of sleepless nights and fatigue, sharing that she’s “coming back from the brink of exhaustion,” but reassuringly insisted that everything is going well.

The actress and her husband made a life-changing decision four years ago when they left the hustle of London behind for a quieter life in the countryside — and it’s a move she clearly doesn’t regret.
Laughing about the differences, Gemma joked that one of the biggest sacrifices has been food, revealing you “can’t get good sushi” where they live. Still, she added that the slower pace of life has its perks, with cosy gastropubs and traditional roasts making up for it.
She also noted how drastically their lifestyle has changed, especially when it comes to spending habits. Back in London, the couple would regularly splash out on takeaways, but now they rarely order food at all, with Rory taking charge in the kitchen.
Interestingly, Gemma had previously admitted she wasn’t always certain about becoming a mother. In an earlier interview, she explained that timing motherhood had always felt uncertain, as she wanted to feel secure in her career first and ensure she could return to the industry feeling accomplished and valued.

From rising star to established actress, Gemma’s journey has been remarkable. She shot to fame after beating over 1,500 hopefuls to land a role in Quantum of Solace alongside Daniel Craig, a breakthrough that catapulted her into international stardom.
Since then, she has built an impressive career with roles in major productions including St Trinian’s, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Kingsman: The Secret Service and Clash of the Titans.
And she’s showing no signs of slowing down. Just last month, ITV unveiled the first trailer for its gripping new spy thriller Secret Service, with Gemma leading the cast as MI6 officer Kate Henderson — a role that sees her navigating political tensions and high-stakes espionage.
With a growing family and a thriving career, it seems Gemma Arterton is embracing a new chapter — one that balances motherhood, love, and life away from the spotlight.
