TV presenter Rylan Clark broke down in tears on social media after a stunning twist on Doctor Who revealed Billie Piper as the new Time Lord. Fans of the long-running sci-fi series were left reeling on Saturday as Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor regenerated into none other than Billie, who originally played beloved companion Rose Tyler.

Rylan, a self-proclaimed “massive Whovian,” shared a tearful video on Instagram moments after watching the episode, saying, “I’ll probably look back at this with real embarrassment, but I’ve just watched Doctor Who and I don’t know what just happened. OMG, it’s unbelievable.”
In response, Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies replied warmly: “Love you Rylan ❤️.”

Just weeks before, Rylan himself appeared on the show in a guest role as host of the Interstellar Song Contest, a sci-fi spin on Eurovision. Speaking about his cameo, Rylan revealed: “When I got that call, I was overwhelmed. It was the best experience of my life.”
Billie Piper, now 42, expressed her excitement at returning to the franchise, saying she “couldn’t refuse” the chance to step back into the Whoniverse. Ncuti Gatwa, whose time as the Doctor has come to a close, gave a heartfelt farewell, saying: “Now is the time to hand over the keys to that beloved blue box.”

Fans erupted online, with one writing: “Billie Piper as the 16th Doctor? I’m speechless.” Another added: “This wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card — but I’m here for it!”
