Patrick Kielty reveals bitter truth about Cat Deeley, accuses wife of being controlling and dismissive of his opinions: ‘I felt like a junior shareholder — our 10-year marriage felt more like 30’

Patrick Kielty has spoken candidly about his 12-year marriage to Cat Deeley, admitting he often felt like a “junior shareholder” rather than an equal partner in the relationship.

Following their announcement that they have officially separated, Patrick shared insights into the cracks that formed over the years. “For a long time, I thought we were in a 50/50 partnership,” he said, reflecting on how that dynamic shifted, particularly after major life decisions like their move back to London from Los Angeles in 2020 — a decision he said was “more her choice.”

The pair, who met in 2002 and married in an intimate ceremony in Rome in 2012, issued a joint statement confirming their split: “There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents.”

On The Mid-Point podcast, Patrick spoke of the emotional toll of parenting, lockdown pressures, and the challenges of balancing careers in entertainment. “You realise you’ve probably lived 30 years of marriage in just 10,” he said, adding that pandemic restrictions amplified existing tensions.

One turning point was Cat’s decision to leave the US — where she had built a successful career — and return to the UK. “Only she could make that call,” Patrick said. “And it was my job to support it.” But he acknowledged London never felt like home to him, despite buying a £4.9 million home together in Hampstead.

Patrick also revealed the strain of long work separations, especially when Cat travelled to Atlanta for seven weeks over Christmas 2023. Even though they tried to maintain a routine, juggling two demanding careers and parenting responsibilities took its toll.

Their split followed years of juggling fame, family, and personal compromises. In one striking moment, Cat didn’t attend Patrick’s mother’s funeral, choosing to stay home to support their sons Milo, 9, and James, 7.

Despite rough patches, their romance had a heartfelt beginning. Patrick once flew from Belfast to LA for Cat’s birthday brunch — a spontaneous gesture that turned a decade-long friendship into love.

Today, both continue their respective careers — Cat on This Morning with a £600,000 salary, and Patrick as host of The Late Late Show, earning £216,000 annually. But their once fairytale union has now quietly come to an end.
