Joe Sugg was left overwhelmed with emotion the moment he met his newborn son, as he and partner Dianne Buswell opened up about the raw, unfiltered reality of becoming parents for the first time.
The Strictly Come Dancing couple, who recently welcomed baby boy Bowden, have now shared an intimate glimpse into their first week as a family — and it was far from calm.
In a heartfelt YouTube vlog titled “The best day of our lives”, Joe admitted the footage was “scrambly” and “a mishmash,” capturing a whirlwind of emotions and unexpected twists from the day their son was born.

Speaking at the start of the video, Joe told fans: “Welcome back to another vlog… as you may see in front of you, we are a family of three now.” Dianne beamed beside him, adding: “Yay. We have little Bowie.”
But behind the smiles was a birth story that escalated rapidly.
Dianne revealed she had to be rushed in for an emergency C-section, describing how everything suddenly changed in a matter of moments. Joe recalled the shock, saying there was “a slight twist in the tail” that meant Dianne had to go into surgery, adding he was “amazed” by her strength during such an uncertain time.
Dianne admitted she felt “nervous” about the procedure, especially the idea of being numbed for surgery — but the couple stayed strong through it all.
Then came the moment that would stay with them forever.

As the screen in the vlog faded to black, the sounds of the delivery room told the story — Dianne emotional, Joe breaking down, and finally, the cry of their newborn son.
When Bowden arrived on March 16, 2026, Joe could be heard through tears telling Dianne: “You did it!”
Moments later, the new parents were reunited with their baby boy and even sang “Happy Birthday” to him — a small but powerful moment in the middle of an overwhelming day.
The couple have continued to share updates with fans since bringing Bowden home, offering a candid look at the realities of new parenthood.
Dianne also revealed she needed time to physically recover after the birth, even undergoing treatment in an oxygen chamber during her first week — highlighting just how intense the experience had been.
Despite the chaos, exhaustion, and emotional rollercoaster, one thing was clear: for Joe and Dianne, this “scrambly” first week marked the beginning of the most important chapter of their lives.
