Maya Jama and her footballer boyfriend Ruben Dias are “shaken” after thieves broke into and ransacked their £4 million home in Cheshire in what appears to have been a pre-planned, targeted attack

Maya Jama and her footballer boyfriend Ruben Dias have been left devastated after their £4million Cheshire home was ransacked in what police believe was a targeted burglary.

The break-in happened on Wednesday night while the Manchester City defender was away playing against Galatasaray, and Maya was thousands of miles away in South Africa filming Love Island: All Stars. Thieves reportedly made off with thousands of pounds worth of designer clothing, jewellery and electronics, leaving the luxury property turned upside down.

The ultra-modern house — an Omaze prize-draw mansion in Alderley Edge — is understood to cost around £20,000 a month to rent and had only recently become the couple’s first shared home. Ruben is said to have raised the alarm after returning from the away match to find the property had been broken into.

A source close to the couple said the shock has been profound, explaining that the home held deep emotional value as their first place together. While both were relieved not to be inside during the attack, the sense of having their private space violated has left them badly shaken.

The source added that Maya had been especially proud of the move, sharing photos and videos of the home on social media after years of commuting between London and Ruben’s city-centre flat. That fresh start, they said, made the burglary even more upsetting.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police confirmed officers were called shortly after 11.10pm on January 28 to reports of a burglary on Woodbrook Road, Alderley Edge. Entry had been forced and a number of items stolen, with enquiries ongoing.

The property — still officially owned by Omaze winner Emily Ward — boasts panoramic countryside views, landscaped gardens, an indoor leisure suite and a high-end security system. Despite those features, it has now joined a growing list of celebrity homes targeted in Cheshire’s so-called “Golden Triangle”.

The couple, who are believed to have met at the European Music Awards in 2024 and confirmed their romance last spring, had only just begun building their life together in the area — making the timing of the attack all the more cruel.
