Kelvin Fletcher and his wife Liz have opened up about the emotional reality of life on their family farm, admitting there were moments when they felt they were simply trying to survive.
The couple, who moved into farming life in Cheshire, revealed on Fletcher’s Family Farm that the dream was far harder than they ever expected. Between caring for animals, raising their children and handling the pressure of daily farm work, the pair quickly learned that country life was not always peaceful or picture-perfect.

Kelvin confessed, “I didn’t even brush my teeth this morning, didn’t have a shower, nothing,” before adding, “It wasn’t until midday I realised I hadn’t eaten breakfast yet. That’s just the reality when you’re juggling everything.”
Despite the chaos, Kelvin said there were still moments of love and humour, telling Liz: “One day, we’ll look back at these crazy days and laugh. How did we manage it?”
But the couple were left devastated during one difficult birth when they tried desperately to save a sheep and her lambs. The first lamb sadly died, while the second appeared lifeless as Kelvin held it in his arms.
“It felt lifeless,” Kelvin admitted. Liz, visibly emotional, added, “It’s heartbreaking to witness. You worry about hurting them, but you have to act fast.”
Although the experience left them shaken, Kelvin and Liz said they remain committed to the life they have built together. For them, the farm is exhausting, unpredictable and sometimes heartbreaking — but also full of purpose, family and love.
