Sophie Habboo was left in floods of tears after Jamie Laing’s well-meant Mother’s Day present unexpectedly hit an emotional nerve.
The couple, who welcomed their baby son Ziggy in December, were marking Sophie’s very first Mother’s Day when Jamie decided to surprise her with a photo album filled with pictures of their newborn. But instead of a simple sweet moment, the gift quickly turned into an emotional one.

Jamie later shared the scene on TikTok, capturing the heartbreaking reaction as Sophie broke down in tears. In the clip, the former Made In Chelsea star could be heard asking his wife, “Wait, why are you upset?” as Sophie, overcome with emotion, held her head in her hands and cried: “He’s never going to be that small.”
Jamie summed up the moment with a caption that read: “Reminder… Don’t make your wife a photo album of your newborn baby for Mother’s Day.”
The post struck a chord with many parents, who rushed to the comments to say they completely understood Sophie’s reaction. One person wrote that the feeling was “so valid” because “you blink and they aren’t the little baby you brought home.” Another said the emotional response was “painfully beautiful,” describing it as the baby bond working its way through the exhaustion and difficult days. A third reassured Sophie that while the early days pass too quickly, “the best is yet to come as his little personality develops.”

Sophie and Jamie first announced Ziggy’s arrival in December, sharing their joy with fans on Instagram. Alongside a tender snap of their newborn, Jamie wrote: “Ziggy, you have our whole hearts.” Their post was quickly flooded with warm messages from celebrity friends, with Rylan Clark commenting, “Congrats you two xxx,” while Motsi Mabuse added, “Congratulations guys. A new journey begins.” Jessie J also showed her support, writing: “You did it mama.”
Earlier this month, Sophie also opened up about the less glamorous side of new motherhood while attending the BRIT Awards with Jamie. During an interview with Chloe Burrows for KISS FM, she admitted that the hardest part has been “the constant mum guilt,” explaining that she feels guilty for stepping away and then guilty all over again.

Jamie, meanwhile, joked that the toughest part of having a baby was “the burping,” prompting Sophie to roll her eyes and point out: “The mums do everything.” When Jamie insisted he was joking, Sophie playfully added that she has “the better instincts.” Jamie fired back with a laugh, insisting: “No, I have better instincts,” before joking, “I feel him. I can feel him right now.”
But it was Sophie’s raw reaction to that photo album that said the most — a painfully honest glimpse into how quickly the newborn days slip away, and how deeply a first-time mum can feel every second of it.
