“Is It Cancer?”: GMB’s Ranvir Singh Opens Up About Health Scare After Emergency Surgery – “That Fear Was Real”

Ranvir Singh has revealed the private panic she endured before being rushed into surgery for a ruptured appendix – and how fears of bowel cancer haunted her every move.

The 47-year-old Good Morning Britain host, who also charmed viewers on Strictly Come Dancing, admitted that the pain she experienced earlier this month was so severe she feared the worst. “I thought: what if it’s bowel cancer?” she said live on air, her voice trembling slightly as she recalled the terrifying night.

She had just finished work when the “sudden stomach ache” left her curled up in agony. Hours later, she made the urgent decision to call 111. “It was eight o’clock at night,” Ranvir explained. “And I was writhing around thinking, ‘Could this be something worse?’ I had this voice in my head – it could be bowel cancer.”

Her worries weren’t unfounded. Thanks to recent awareness campaigns around cancer – including one from Lorraine’s team – that very fear prompted her to act quickly. And it likely saved her life.

Doctors soon discovered Ranvir’s appendix had ruptured, and she was rushed into emergency surgery. She later revealed the infection had spread to her bloodstream, leaving her in intense pain and temporarily unable to drive or exercise.

“I’m sore and shuffling around,” she shared with followers on social media. “It’s the boredom that’s killing me now! And that insane shoulder pain afterwards – has anyone else had that?!”

Even more shocking, co-host Rob Rinder revealed that Ranvir had originally been turned away by doctors, told her pain was “nothing.” But her instincts – driven by fear and awareness – made her push for answers.

Today, she’s recovering and sharing her story to encourage others to trust their gut and never dismiss sudden health changes.
