Nick Knowles and his wife Katie put on a united front on Monday as they attended the Chelsea Flower Show, marking Katie’s first public appearance since she bravely opened up about suffering years of abuse by her late father.
The TV presenter, 63, looked smart in a navy blazer over a matching polo shirt as he walked through the event carrying a green umbrella. Katie, 35, brought a bright summer feel to the outing in a colourful Zara shirt dress featuring playful watermelon and fish prints.
She completed the look with a tan 2015 Hermès Birkin 40, finished with the brand’s signature gold hardware.
The appearance came weeks after Katie shared an emotional Instagram video discussing women’s safety and revealing a deeply painful part of her past. She told followers: “I have never spoken about this publicly, other than to friends, family and even then not everyone. I was raped by my dad for years, years and years.”
Katie said she has had “a lot of therapy” and explained that certain news stories about violence against women can still affect her deeply. She added: “We shouldn’t have to worry anymore.”
After posting the video, Katie was flooded with messages of support from followers who praised her courage and thanked her for raising awareness.
Katie and Nick married last summer in a lavish six-figure ceremony at Braxted Park in Essex. The couple previously revealed that their children helped bring them together after becoming friends.
Katie has two daughters from a previous relationship, while Nick has four children from three past relationships.
