It was one of the most uncomfortable moments of the night at the National Television Awards, as Maura Higgins and Danny Jones found themselves standing side by side for the first time since their headline-grabbing kiss at the BRITs – and Danny’s wife Georgia was far from pleased.
The Love Island beauty, 34, and the McFly frontman, 39, joined the rest of the I’m A Celebrity 2024 cast onstage to collect the Best Reality Competition gong. With Ant and Dec absent, Danny – the reigning King of the Jungle – delivered the acceptance speech, while Maura stood just feet away.
Back in February, the pair were caught sharing a drunken kiss at the BRIT Awards afterparty at London’s O2 Arena, sparking a wave of scandal. Danny’s marriage to model Georgia was shaken after reports claimed he and Maura partied until 6am at the Nobu Hotel bar.
Although Georgia publicly forgave Danny at the time, insiders say she was left visibly uncomfortable watching the NTAs broadcast as her husband stood so close to Maura again. A source revealed Georgia “looked tense and clearly not happy about the whole thing,” with fans online echoing her unease.
Viewers flooded X with reactions, many branding the scene “painfully awkward.” One wrote: “Danny and Maura on stage … I wouldn’t be happy if I was the wife.” Another added: “Was really hoping Maura wouldn’t be there. Georgia must have found that tough.”
Others couldn’t resist mocking the situation: “The mess of Danny and Maura being in the same shot after last year’s drama,” one joked, while another quipped: “Let’s hope they can keep their hands off each other this time.”
The uncomfortable reunion has now become one of the most talked-about moments of the NTAs – nearly overshadowing Gary Lineker’s historic Best Presenter win, which ended Ant and Dec’s 23-year streak.
