Alison Hammond has opened up about the hidden toll of her weight loss journey, revealing unexpected side effects after shedding an astonishing 13.5 stone.
The beloved This Morning presenter, now 50, reflected on her transformation in a candid interview, admitting that while the results are empowering, the process was far from smooth. “I had a lot of headaches and felt dizzy – it was like having a hangover,” she recalled. “I’d even say it felt like coming off drugs… and I don’t even do those!”

Alison’s weight once peaked at 28 stone. After a failed gastric band in 2007, which she later had removed, she began a more holistic journey involving diet changes and consistent workouts. One pivotal moment came during her appearance on Sugar Free Farm, where she adopted a strict no-sugar lifestyle – but it came with withdrawal-like symptoms.
Now, with her health in a better place, Alison has shared more of her lifestyle secrets. She kicks off each day with a ginger shot and enjoys a hearty Full English breakfast with her son Aiden. Studio lunches often include Caribbean dishes like rice, peas, and chicken, while homemade lasagna is a favourite when relaxing at home. Dinners can range from fried rice to curried goat, depending on the day’s mood.

Motivated by the death of her mother Maria in 2020 – who had warned her about a pre-diabetic diagnosis – Alison made lasting changes. She now exercises regularly with a personal trainer and walks when she can’t make it to a session.
“I don’t deny myself anything. I eat everything, just in moderation,” Alison told Heat magazine. While she’s steered clear of weight-loss injections due to fear of side effects, she remains supportive of others who choose that path.

Alison also honoured her late mum by selling her old size 26 clothes for charity earlier this year. As for what’s next? She’s happy, healthier, and finally feeling in control.
