David and Cruz Beckham enjoyed a family day out in Paris with Victoria, as it was revealed that Nicola Peltz could “barely bring herself to say her mother-in-law’s name” in an interview amid the outfit controversy

The Beckham family put on a carefully choreographed show of unity in Paris as Victoria Beckham stepped out with husband David Beckham and son Cruz Beckham, while their eldest, Brooklyn Beckham, was once again conspicuously absent.

Victoria, 51, cut a polished figure in a slouchy blue suit as she left Hotel La Réserve, while David carried a statement £10,000 Hermès Haut à Courroies bag. Cruz walked alongside girlfriend Jackie Apostel, sporting a bold orange tote from his mum’s label, priced at £1,190. Harper, 14, completed the family picture in a blue fur coat, finishing her look with a vintage jumbo flap Chanel bag valued at up to £5,000.

The Paris outing came just days after Brooklyn publicly severed ties with his family in a blistering statement, choosing instead to build his life in the US with heiress wife Nicola Peltz. His absence was all the more noticeable as the family rallied around Victoria following a career-defining honour.

Earlier this week, Victoria was named a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture, an accolade recognising her contribution to fashion as an art form. Accepting the honour from Culture Minister Rachida Dati, Victoria told the audience she was “extremely grateful” and paid tribute to her team, her parents, and her children for “always believing in my vision,” while David watched on proudly, Cruz placing a supportive hand on his shoulder.

But even as the Beckhams presented a united front, old wounds were reopened. An interviewer’s account from a 2022 Grazia feature was republished, claiming Nicola had struggled to say either David or Victoria’s names during an interview about the infamous wedding dress saga. The journalist recalled being struck by Nicola’s near inability to say “Victoria,” instead opting for awkward pauses or referring to her as “Brooklyn’s mom.”

Nicola had previously insisted she was excited to wear a Victoria Beckham gown for her Palm Beach wedding and explained that a breakdown in communication, compounded by both women being busy, meant the dress was never made. She said she had been part of a group text with her mother, Victoria and her stylist, before being told that the atelier could not complete the dress in time.

Those remarks mirror Brooklyn’s recent claims that his parents had tried to undermine his relationship long before the wedding. As the family continues to present a picture of strength in Paris, the resurfaced interview serves as a reminder that the rift, and the unresolved dress drama at its heart, is far from settled.
