Coleen Nolan’s search for romance took another dramatic turn after she was left furious by a dinner date who appeared to expect her to pick up the bill because she was “the celebrity”.
The Loose Women star, 61, has already endured a rocky journey on Celebs Go Dating, but her latest evening out on the E4 show quickly became one of her most awkward moments yet.
After Coleen and her date Adam had finished their meal, the mood shifted when he asked for the bill — before turning the question straight back on her.
“So are you paying tonight?” he asked, leaving Coleen visibly unimpressed.
When she offered to “go halves”, Adam talked over her and added: “I mean, you’re the celebrity after all. You’re the one rolling in the money.”
The remark instantly changed the tone of the date. Coleen, who had tried to keep things polite, was clearly taken aback by the assumption that her fame meant she should automatically pay.
Adam then continued with a sarcastic dig, saying: “I’m not a daytime celebrity TV personality.”
Reflecting on the moment afterwards, Coleen made it clear there would be no second chance. Speaking to the camera, she fumed: “Bye-bye, Adam. I ain’t your Eve. That’s for sure.”
She explained that her frustration was not about refusing to pay, but about the attitude behind his comment. Coleen said: “Not because I don’t think I should pay a bill, but I’m quite old fashioned that in the first date, I think the man should offer.”
Viewers were quick to rally behind Coleen, with many branding Adam’s behaviour rude and unnecessary. One fan blasted: “What an absolute tool!” while another wrote: “Wow how rude is he?”
A third praised Coleen for keeping her cool, saying: “What an a**e, well handled Coleen! At least he showed his true colours first, get rid.”
Another viewer went even further, calling him simply a “b****nd”.
The uncomfortable dinner comes after another difficult moment for Coleen earlier in the week, when she was left “mortified” after being rejected by a man she had hoped to continue dating.
During the Tenerife stage of the show, the celebrity cast each went on two dates before gathering together to find out who wanted to keep seeing them back in the UK.
Coleen had spoken warmly about her date with Steve and believed there had been strong chemistry between them. But when the dating experts asked her dates to stand if they wanted to see her again, nobody got to their feet.
The moment left Coleen emotional, as she later admitted she wanted “the ground to swallow her up.”
Steve later explained his decision, saying: “Me and Coleen from the start was an absolute hit from the start emotionally but the only thing for me was the sexual chemistry just wasn’t there.”
Coleen has been open about the ups and downs of her love life over the years. She was previously married to EastEnders actor Shane Richie, with whom she shares sons Jake Roche and Shane Nolan. The pair married in 1990 before divorcing in 1999.
She later married Ray Fensome in 2007, and the couple share daughter Ciara. However, they eventually split for good in 2018.
Now, as Coleen continues her search for love on Celebs Go Dating, fans appear firmly on her side — especially after her latest date seemed to prove exactly why some first impressions should also be the last.
