Cancer relapse? Rod Stewart, 80, suddenly cancels Vegas show just hours before going on stage: ‘I’m not feeling well’

Sir Rod Stewart has cancelled his Las Vegas concert just hours before taking the stage, citing illness — and sparking growing concern among fans about the rock icon’s health, with some fearing his past cancer battle may be resurfacing.

The 80-year-old singer, who beat prostate cancer in 2019, was set to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace as part of his The Hits residency. But he posted on Instagram hours before showtime: “I am sorry to inform you that I’m not feeling well and my show tonight is being rescheduled to June 10. Your tickets will be valid for the new date. Sir Rod.”

While the official statement did not disclose details of his illness, the sudden cancellation and recent signs of physical strain have left fans deeply worried. “He just hasn’t looked the same lately,” one follower commented, while others openly expressed fears that the cancer might have returned.

Rod previously cancelled several dates in 2024 due to lingering effects from a Covid-19 infection. Now, with another show postponed at the last minute, those who have followed his journey through illness are holding their breath.

In the past, Rod spoke candidly about his prostate cancer diagnosis and said he chose to keep it private while undergoing treatment. “You’ve got to do everything you can to fight it,” he said in 2020. “Early detection saved me.”

This latest health scare comes just weeks before Stewart is due to play the coveted Glastonbury “legends slot” — a moment fans were eagerly awaiting. He’s set to reunite with former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood for the special set and had even requested extra time on stage, saying, “An hour and fifteen isn’t enough — I do over two hours every night!”

Despite health concerns, Rod continues to push forward. He was recently honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the AMAs, flanked by five of his children, and insists he won’t stop performing, even if his days of large-scale tours are numbered.

Fans now hope that the Glastonbury set will still go ahead — and that their beloved legend will bounce back once again.

Despite the cancellations, the “Maggie May” hitmaker has no intention of stepping away from the spotlight. In a recent interview, he declared: “I’ll never retire – I was put on this earth to sing.” Reflecting on his age and health, he admitted, “I’m aware my days are numbered, but I’ve got no fear… I’m going to enjoy myself for these last few years as much as I can.”

With more dates already announced for next year, Rod Stewart seems determined to keep going—at full volume—for as long as he possibly can.
