After more than two decades off-air, one of Britain’s most iconic dating shows, Blind Date, is making a surprise comeback—not on the BBC or ITV, but via global streaming giant Disney+.
Last seen in its original form in 2003 with the legendary Cilla Black, Blind Date was once a Saturday night TV staple, drawing up to 18 million viewers at its peak. The show was briefly revived in 2017 on Channel 5 with Paul O’Grady, but faded again soon after.
Now, it’s being reimagined for a 2026 debut, with filming expected to start later this year—marking 40 years since the show first aired.

🎙️ New Era, Familiar Flair
Producers plan to stay faithful to the original format, bringing back the iconic sliding wall that separated contestants and even including a wedding package prize—a nod to Cilla’s famous catchphrase: “Do I need to buy a hat for the wedding?”
But the most pressing question is: Who will host?
The shortlist reportedly includes three of the UK’s biggest female TV stars:
-
Claudia Winkleman
-
Holly Willoughby
-
Davina McCall
Each brings star power and charisma—qualities essential to filling the heels of the irreplaceable Cilla.

🤔 Who Will Be “Our Graham”?
One key role left uncertain is who will replace the late Graham Skidmore, affectionately known as “Our Graham,” who voiced the show’s witty contestant summaries. Since his passing in 2021, fans are curious if anyone will step into the role.
Speculation is already swirling, with names like Graham Norton, Stephen Graham, and even Graeme Souness being tossed around—though no decision has been confirmed.
💸 Why Disney+ Won the Bid
Insiders claim that Disney+ outbid the BBC, thanks to their “deep pockets.” After successfully rebooting shows like Gladiators, British networks were hoping to reclaim Blind Date, but the streaming war took an unexpected turn.
