2025 was supposed to be the year Amy Childs had dreamed of. The wedding was planned, the house renovations were nearly done, and a new season of The Only Way Is Essex was on the horizon. But instead of walking down the aisle, Amy has been walking through one of the hardest chapters of her life.
The 34-year-old reality star has revealed the heartbreaking reason she and fiancé Billy Delbosq have postponed their wedding — her mum Julie recently suffered a terrifying heart attack just days before her 60th birthday. The life-threatening scare shook the entire family, and Amy didn’t hesitate to put everything on hold.

“We were on a family holiday in Tenerife when we got the call,” Amy said. “Dad rang and said Mum had a heart attack. We flew home that night. I was in shock.”
Julie was rushed to hospital, fitted with a stent, and stayed for six days. Now recovering at home under close monitoring, Amy admits, “She’s not out of the woods. It’s so tough. She can’t even walk up the stairs sometimes.”
The emotional toll has been enormous. “Mum and I are best friends. We speak five times a day. It’s been horrendous.” With her children Polly (9), Ritchie (8), and twins Billy and Milly (2) in the mix, Amy knew something had to give. “We cancelled the wedding — I’d booked the florist, the entertainment, started dress shopping… but it was all too much. Right now, all that matters is Mum.”

💔 A Private Battle with Stress and Body Image
As her wedding plans crumbled, Amy was also battling a more silent struggle — the dramatic change in her weight. Fans had noticed. So had trolls. But now, Amy is setting the record straight.
“I’ve lost a lot of weight recently — and it’s not intentional,” she said. “People assume I’m not eating, but the truth is I’m under enormous stress. I worry about my mum constantly, and we’re also dealing with house renovations and raising four young kids. That kind of stress doesn’t just affect your mind — it affects your body.”
Online critics were quick to speculate she was using weight-loss injections, but Amy insists: “I did try the jab once — 18 months ago — and I was violently ill. Never again. I lost weight because I’ve been overwhelmed.”

While she acknowledges she’s lost too much, Amy is taking steps to regain control. She turned to a Dubai-based wellness coach and embraced clean eating and training. “I was in the gym four times a week, stuck to my plans religiously. But recently, the stress just took over again.”
💍 Love, Family & What Comes Next
Despite the setbacks, Amy and Billy remain rock solid. Billy, who proposed in 2023 by dressing their twins in sleepsuits reading “Mummy, will you marry Daddy?”, has been Amy’s unwavering support. “He’s the love of my life,” Amy smiles. “We dance in the kitchen, we cook together… we make it work.”
The couple now plans to marry abroad next summer — possibly with a white party celebration the day after. “We want it to be perfect, not rushed. Polly will love it, and the twins will be older. It’ll be so special.”
Amy says they’re done having kids. “We already have four — any more and we’d need a minibus!” she jokes. She’s even encouraging Billy to get a vasectomy. “I’ve done my bit,” she laughs.
But for now, their focus is on family, health, and the hope that calmer days are ahead. Amy puts it simply: “You never know what’s around the corner in life. We just want to enjoy what we have — and be grateful.”
