Alan Carr broke down in tears live on air as he apologised to Paloma Faith, admitting that betraying her on The Celebrity Traitors “tore his heart apart” – a shocking twist that ended with forgiveness and friendship

Alan Carr has admitted that betraying his close friend Paloma Faith on The Celebrity Traitors was “awful” and left him feeling “really hurt,” as the pair addressed their emotional confrontation live on BBC’s Uncloaked following the explosive finale.

The comedian, who was crowned the first-ever celebrity winner of the hit series, took a moment after his victory to apologise directly to Paloma, who had been “murdered” earlier in the show by none other than Alan himself. “It was awful. So awful, and weird because I love Paloma. I’ve been a fan of her music for ages and we’re friends – it absolutely, really hurt,” he said, before adding with a touch of humour, “You know I am, and I wanna tell everyone I am father of her child.”

Paloma, visibly emotional, laughed at Alan’s joke but soon teared up, telling him that while his betrayal had hurt her, she couldn’t stay angry. “It was great. It was an enjoyable experience for both of us,” she said. “I feel like the reason Alan won – and the reason why I was so sad – is because we all love Alan so much. I love you so much, and I’m so happy you won because it was bloody worth it at the end.”

Alan, who broke down in tears upon hearing he had won, confessed that “the deceit, the lying, and the murdering of Paloma and Celia” had taken a toll on him. “It’s been tearing me apart,” he told his fellow contestants Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga, who rushed to console him. Nick told Alan he’d been “absolutely brilliant,” while David called him “amazing,” urging him to remember that it was all for a good cause.

Alan later explained that his emotional breakdown came from the realisation of how much the victory meant for his charity, Neuroblastoma UK. “The charity is so close to my heart that it all became a bit too much,” he said, before joking, “Hopefully when people see how upset I was, they won’t feel so bad that I killed all those national treasures.”
