BBC Radio 1 presenter Lauren Layfield has shared joyful news with fans, revealing that she is expecting her first child with husband Luke Beddows after undergoing IVF treatment.
The popular radio DJ took to Instagram to announce the milestone moment, proudly showing off her growing baby bump in a series of candid photos. One image captured Lauren relaxing in her underwear while enjoying a snack as Luke affectionately placed his hand on her stomach.

Sharing the announcement with her followers, Lauren joked about the life-changing news. She wrote that in what had been described as “a very off-brand move from us… we’re having an actual baby!” She added that after almost 20 years together, their “little IVF baby Beddows” is due to arrive in June and joked that the baby would “ruin our lives,” before hinting there was much more about the journey she still wanted to share.
Another sweet photo showed Luke holding up their baby’s ultrasound scan while the couple stood together on a London Underground platform, capturing the excitement of their long-awaited moment.

The news quickly sparked a wave of congratulations from friends, colleagues and fans. Fellow BBC Radio 1 presenter Melvin Odoom wrote: “Congratulations ❤️ wonderful news!x,” while TV presenter Michelle Ackerley added: “Congratulations!!”
Fans also flooded the comments with supportive messages, with one writing: “Oh my GOD! Incredible news! Congratulations ❤️,” while another added: “WHOA! Fantastic news! Congratulations!”
Lauren currently hosts The Official Chart: First Look and Radio 1’s Life Hacks on the BBC. In 2024 she took over the Life Hacks programme alongside Shanequa Paris after previous hosts Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton stepped down.
The weekly show, which airs every Sunday afternoon, focuses on open and honest discussions about topics affecting young people, from relationships and careers to health and mental wellbeing.
At the time of joining Radio 1, Lauren said she was thrilled to be part of the station she had listened to since her teenage years. She explained that Life Hacks was an iconic programme that tackled everything from health to careers and relationships, adding that as a journalist she loved hearing people share their personal stories and could not wait to lead those conversations.
Before joining the BBC, Lauren previously worked at Capital FM, building a reputation as a vibrant and relatable presenter.
