Aaron Chalmers’ son may need wheelchair: Ex Talia Oatway breaks down over ’emotional’ struggles and rare genetic condition

Aaron Chalmers’ ex-girlfriend Talia Oatway has shared a heartbreaking health update about their son Oakley, revealing that the three-year-old may eventually need a wheelchair.

Oakley, who was born with Apert Syndrome—a rare genetic disorder that causes the bones in the skull, hands, and feet to fuse together—has been making progress with short walks. But Talia says his condition may soon affect his mobility even further.

In a candid Q&A on Instagram, Talia opened up about the emotional challenges she’s facing. Responding to a fan who praised a video of Oakley taking his first steps, the mum-of-three explained: “He will only walk outside for a very very short time—like a few minutes. At home, he walks more. The bones on the bottom of his feet are becoming more prominent, which is where I need to keep an eye on.”

She added that many children with Apert Syndrome eventually need surgery on their feet and often rely on wheelchairs due to the intense pain that can travel up to their backs.

Talia, who split from the Geordie Shore star shortly after Oakley’s birth in 2022, also admitted how difficult it is to stay emotionally strong: “I honestly don’t think I’m strong. I cry a lot, especially in situations where I can’t get my point across or when I’m overwhelmed. I try to hold in my emotions, especially when the kids are around.”

Aaron Chalmers, who also shares sons Romeo and Maddox with Talia, previously admitted that he didn’t know how to process Oakley’s diagnosis at first.
