A Strictly Come Dancing star who was arrested on suspicion of rape has been cleared of any criminal charges, but the fallout from the case is far from over.
The unnamed man, whose identity has never been made public, was arrested on 13 October 2025 in London and later released on bail while investigations continued. Now, months on, Hertfordshire Police have confirmed that no further action will be taken after detectives concluded there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

In an official statement, the force said there will be no criminal charges brought against the individual arrested on suspicion of rape, adding that early advice had been sought from the Crown Prosecution Service before the final decision was made. Officers stressed that a thorough investigation had been carried out before determining that the evidence did not meet the threshold for prosecution.
The man’s bail had previously been extended until 7 April 2026 to allow further enquiries, but that period has now expired with the case officially closed.
Despite the legal outcome, uncertainty still surrounds the star’s future on Strictly Come Dancing. The BBC has declined to comment on the situation, and it remains unclear whether the individual will return to the hit show when it comes back later this year.

Reports at the time of the arrest suggested the allegation involved a woman the man had met through his connection to the BBC programme, although she was said not to be a contestant or professional dancer. The case was also understood to be unrelated to the most recent series of the show.
With Strictly filmed at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire and already facing a period of change behind the scenes, the latest development adds yet another layer of uncertainty to the programme’s future.
