Gregg Wallace is facing sharp criticism from Lorraine Kelly, who publicly condemned his actions and comments following his exit from MasterChef. During her ITV show, Lorraine didn’t hold back, calling the TV presenter’s remarks “inappropriate” and “strange”, especially as he attempted to explain his alleged misconduct by referencing his autism diagnosis.
Wallace, who shares a four-year-old autistic son named Sid, had previously spoken out about the challenges of parenting a non-verbal child. However, Lorraine questioned the logic of his defence, remarking, “It’s just quite strange because he has a little boy who has autism as well. I find that bizarre.”

The controversy began after Wallace was quietly removed from the BBC show amid a string of complaints. While he has denied any serious wrongdoing, an internal investigation upheld 45 complaints, prompting an official apology. He claimed the rest were unproven and that the entire process had been a “trial by media”.
In a statement, Wallace said he “never set out to harm or humiliate” anyone and blamed some of the misunderstandings on his “late autism diagnosis,” saying his communication style had changed since 2018.

Appearing on Lorraine’s show, actress Nicola Thorp added fuel to the fire by suggesting the problem wasn’t just presenters like Wallace. “If executive producers were also fired when these things happen, I promise you they would make sure people on set were treated fairly.”
Wallace has since been banned by the BBC in a damning letter that reportedly concluded with the words: “You’ll never change.” His replacement on MasterChef has already been named.
