Sir Rod Stewart made his legendary Glastonbury debut all the more special by sharing the stage – and the spotlight – with his rarely-seen family.
The 80-year-old music icon was joined by wife Penny Lancaster and their two sons, 19-year-old Alastair and 14-year-old Aiden, during his standout set on the Pyramid Stage’s coveted Legends slot. Penny posted a heartwarming family snap featuring Rod, Alastair, singer Lulu and designer Stella McCartney.

Fans were thrilled to see Alastair, who usually stays out of the limelight, wrapping his arm around Lulu and smiling proudly. Alastair later posted a touching tribute to his dad, writing: “Words definitely can’t describe this feeling. Love you Glastonbury, love you fam, love you dad – what a bloody performance.”
Rod’s 45-minute set was an emotional rollercoaster, ending with a moving rendition of Sailing. Speaking to BBC Radio 2 afterward, Rod admitted: “Yes, a little bit teary eyed. This is our Woodstock, and there’s nothing bigger. I won’t be back – this is my Glastonbury moment. My World Cup final.”

Behind the scenes, it was Penny who made it all happen. “This time last week I said I’m not doing it. She said, ‘Yes, you are – you’re going to be fit.’ Because I had the flu,” Rod confessed.
The family moment meant even more given Rod’s recent health battles. The couple, married since 2007, rarely post images of their sons, making the Glastonbury appearance all the more significant.

As flares lit up the crowd, Alastair reminded his dad of the magnitude of the moment: “If it’s packed as far as you can see and they let off flares – that means you’re a big success.”
