Lily Allen admitted she couldn’t remember how many abortions she’s had, estimating it to be around four or five. Lily Allen called it “romantic” when her boyfriend paid £500 for her abortion – and social media was left speechless

Lily Allen has ignited a firestorm online after opening up about her history with abortions in a brutally honest episode of her podcast Miss Me?, co-hosted with Miquita Oliver.

The 40-year-old singer, who shares two daughters, Ethel and Marnie, didn’t hold back as she admitted she “can’t remember exactly how many” abortions she’s had – estimating around four or five. The revelation came as the duo discussed their personal experiences with contraception and pregnancy.

In a moment that shocked many, Lily jokingly sang, “Abortions I’ve had a few… but then again, I can’t remember exactly how many,” to the tune of Frank Sinatra’s My Way. Miquita responded with solidarity, revealing she too had undergone about five abortions.

Lily went on to recall a particular occasion when a man paid for her abortion, which she described as “so romantic.” She said, “Think about that investment – that’s like £500! Kids are a lot more expensive.” Miquita agreed, calling it a romantic gesture.

The singer also expressed frustration over society’s expectation for women to justify their abortions with extraordinary reasons, stressing that simply not wanting a baby should be enough. “Why is ‘I don’t want a f***ing baby’ not a valid reason on its own?” she argued.

Though some listeners praised the podcast for its honesty, many others reacted with outrage. On social media, users labelled her “attention seeking” and “reprehensible,” while others took issue with her lighthearted tone, suggesting she treated abortion “like getting a haircut.”

Still, others stepped in to support Lily, with one viewer commenting on YouTube: “Thanks for sharing. Men need to take more responsibility—this shouldn’t all fall on women.”
