Bonnie Tyler has regained consciousness after being placed in a medically induced coma following a reported cardiac arrest in Portugal, but the legendary singer is still fighting for her health.
The 75-year-old star remains in intensive care at a hospital in Faro, southern Portugal, with her team confirming that while her condition is improving, her recovery is expected to be gradual.
A spokesperson told The Sun: “Bonnie is no longer in a coma, but remains seriously ill. Although her condition is improving, the recovery process is slow.”

Doctors are said to remain optimistic that the Welsh singer will eventually make a full recovery, despite her condition still being considered serious.
In May, Bonnie’s management revealed that she had been left seriously ill after undergoing emergency intestinal surgery. At the time, they insisted she was stable and urged the public to ignore false reports circulating online.
The statement read: “As of this morning, Bonnie remains seriously ill but stable in hospital in Faro, however her doctors are still positive that she will make a full recovery.”
They added: “Bonnie’s family are very disappointed at the many lurid and untrue rumours now circulating in the media and would like to make it clear that ‘Liberto Mealha’ does not represent them in any way whatsoever and is not in contact with them regarding Bonnie.”
Her representatives also pleaded for privacy, saying: “When there is any further news of Bonnie’s condition then we will issue another statement but ask that the media cease to speculate or publish wild rumours, which simply serve to upset her family, friends, and many fans, and ask again for privacy and decency at this difficult time.”
Long-time friend Liberto Mealha previously admitted that those close to the singer had been praying for good news while she remained in intensive care.
Before waking up, Bonnie had been kept in an induced coma to aid her recovery after undergoing emergency bowel surgery for a perforated intestine.
At the time, a spokesperson explained: “Bonnie has been put into an induced coma by her doctors to aid her recovery. We know that you all wish her well and ask for privacy at this difficult time please. We will issue a further statement when we are able to.”

Reports suggest the Total Eclipse of the Heart hitmaker first began feeling unwell in April and spent two days bedridden at her Algarve home before her husband, Robert Sullivan, rushed her to hospital. She was later transferred to Faro Hospital, where her condition deteriorated and she was moved to intensive care.
Sources claimed Bonnie had continued working despite suffering persistent pain for several weeks.
Mealha, whose daughter is Bonnie’s goddaughter, said the singer’s husband had rarely left her side during the ordeal.
He said: “He’s very grateful to the doctors and nurses at the Faro hospital and believes that if Bonnie had stayed in the United Kingdom she would no longer be here.”
As fans around the world continue to send messages of support, doctors remain hopeful that the beloved singer can overcome her latest health battle.
