Linda Robson has revealed she nearly died after undergoing major surgery on her pancreas earlier this year — but one of the most emotional moments during her terrifying hospital ordeal came when her lifelong best friend, Pauline Quirke, made a rare and deeply moving visit to see her.
The 68-year-old Loose Women star spent ten days in intensive care after doctors discovered gallstones had severely damaged her pancreas, forcing surgeons to remove most of the organ after finding two tumours in a difficult position.
Linda admitted the experience left her convinced she was going to die. She said: “I was petrified in intensive care. I thought I was going to die.”
But amid the fear and uncertainty, there was one visit that reportedly left Linda and her family especially emotional.

According to the new detail, Pauline Quirke — who has been living with dementia after stepping away from public life in 2021 — learned during one of her rare lucid moments that Linda was critically ill in hospital. Despite her own heartbreaking condition, Pauline reportedly insisted on visiting her best friend and arrived at the hospital alongside her son to support Linda during the crisis.
The emotional reunion has stunned fans, especially given Pauline’s ongoing battle with memory loss and confusion. Many are now calling the moment a heartbreaking reminder of just how deep the bond between the Birds Of A Feather co-stars still remains after decades of friendship.
Linda has previously spoken openly about Pauline’s dementia diagnosis and revealed the pair still try to spend time together whenever possible. In a recent emotional update, Linda said Pauline had been “happy” and “laughing” the last time they met.

The actress also credited her children and loved ones for helping her survive the terrifying health scare, saying seeing their faces in hospital “got me through it.”
Linda’s health battle comes after years of personal struggles, including depression, OCD, alcoholism and multiple rehab stays, all of which she has discussed candidly in recent years.
Now, fans are focusing on the extraordinary act of friendship shown by Pauline — with many calling it one of the most emotional celebrity moments of the year.
