Penny Lancaster Honoured With Freedom Of The City Of London As Rod Stewart Proudly Supports Her Big Moment

Penny Lancaster has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London in recognition of her work as a police Special Constable and her charity efforts.

The 55-year-old model and Loose Women star, who became a Special Constable in 2021, has worked to help make the streets safer for women. She has also served during major national moments, including Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022 and King Charles’ coronation in May 2023.

Looking elegant in a floral dress, Penny was joined by her husband Sir Rod Stewart as she accepted the prestigious honour on Monday.

Speaking at the ceremony, she said: “I am truly humbled and thankful to receive the Freedom of the City of London. It is a true privilege to join a list of notable recipients, and to be recognised by such a historic institution.”

She added: “I am delighted to accept this honour, which reflects not just my efforts but the dedication of everyone whom I have had the pleasure to work alongside. I look forward to supporting its traditions and contributing to the vibrant community that makes this capital so special.”

Penny’s policing journey began after she took part in Channel 4’s Famous and Fighting Crime, where she worked alongside Cambridgeshire Police. During filming, she faced a terrifying moment when a drug dealer threatened to stab her.

But the experience only strengthened her determination. She later completed exams, interviews, fitness tests and strict vetting before joining the City of London Police as a part-time officer.

Reflecting on the path that led her there, Penny previously said: “It was terrifying but I never felt more comfortable in a position and I felt like this is where I was supposed to be.”

She also admitted the experience opened her eyes to how underfunded police forces can be, while giving her a deeper respect for those serving on the frontline.
