Princess Charlotte is celebrating her 11th birthday today — and royal insiders believe the young princess has quietly become the strongest sign yet that Prince William and Princess Kate’s controversial parenting approach is paying off.
Over the past year, Charlotte has appeared increasingly confident during public appearances alongside her parents and brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis. Whether greeting crowds at Sandringham on Christmas Day or waving to royal fans during the Easter Sunday church service at Windsor Castle, the young royal has looked remarkably composed in front of cameras and huge crowds.

Royal expert Jennie Bond believes Charlotte’s calm and self-assured behaviour is no accident — but the direct result of the stable family life William and Kate have fought hard to create for their children.
“I think confidence in any child is born of a happy and stable home life,” Jennie explained. “And that is precisely what William and Catherine have worked so hard at achieving for their children. Judging by the three of them, their parents have done a good job.”
She added that Charlotte appeared “by far the most at ease” during the family’s recent Easter outing, effortlessly waving to crowds and cameras with the same elegance many compare to her mother, Kate.

Jennie also suggested Charlotte represents something much bigger for the Royal Family, saying: “In recent decades, the royals have, with some justification, been labelled one of the most dysfunctional families in the land. And that needs to change.”
William and Kate have previously faced criticism for prioritising family life over royal duties, including protecting school holidays and trying to give their children as normal an upbringing as possible at Lambrook School. But according to Jennie, Charlotte’s confidence is “living proof” that their strategy is working.
Despite her poised public image, Charlotte is said to enjoy many of the same hobbies as other girls her age. She reportedly loves dancing, gymnastics, horse riding and Taylor Swift. Prince William previously revealed she enjoys making friendship bracelets inspired by the pop superstar, even gifting him a bracelet with the word “Papa” during his Earthshot trip to South Africa.
Kate has also spoken about Charlotte’s love of ballet — a touching similarity she shares with her late grandmother, Princess Diana.
Jennie added: “Like her mother, she is sporty and keen to try all sorts of activities — from tap dancing to tennis, hurdles to horse riding.”

As speculation continues over Charlotte’s future role within the monarchy, Jennie believes royal duty will likely await her one day — but insists this generation of young royals may finally be given more freedom to choose their own paths.
“I suspect that a life of full-time royal duty does eventually await the young princess,” she said. “But I don’t think it’s something her parents will insist on if it’s truly not what she wants. This is a new era.”
Charlotte is expected to celebrate her birthday privately with her family today, with Jennie predicting there will almost certainly be one of Kate’s famous homemade birthday cakes waiting for her at home.
