Former TOWIE favourite Tom Pearce has entered a new chapter of life, revealing the birth of his first child with his wife — but what should have been a purely joyful moment quickly took an unexpected turn online.
The 35-year-old, who rose to fame on The Only Way Is Essex in 2012 as a friend of Joey Essex, shared a series of tender photos introducing his newborn daughter, Ariella Lua Pearce.
In one image, Tom beamed with pride as his wife cradled their baby, while another showed her resting in a hospital bed surrounded by pink balloons — a soft, celebratory scene marking the arrival of their little girl.
Alongside the snaps, Tom wrote: Welcome to the world, Ariella Lua Pearce… you have our hearts. Couldn’t be more proud of my lovely wife for growing our beautiful girl. 22/04/2026.
The post was quickly flooded with congratulatory messages from former co-stars including Ferne McCann, James Lock and Chloe Simms, with many celebrating the reality star’s milestone moment.
However, not all reactions were entirely positive.
Some eagle-eyed followers took to the comments to question the way Tom was holding his newborn in one of the photos, with a handful of fans expressing concern and suggesting he appeared “a bit unsure” or “too relaxed” in his grip. While the criticism remained relatively mild, it was enough to spark debate among viewers, with others quickly jumping in to defend him, insisting it was simply a nervous first-time dad learning the ropes.
The moment added an unexpected layer to what was otherwise a heartfelt announcement — a reminder of how even the most personal milestones can come under scrutiny in the social media spotlight.
Tom, who left TOWIE in 2014 to relocate to Dubai and build a career as an equity broker, has largely kept a low profile in recent years.
During his time on the show, he was known for his brief on-off romance with Lucy Mecklenburgh, following her split from Mario Falcone. He also had short-lived connections with several co-stars including Lauren Pope, Abi Clarke, Fran Parman and Grace Andrews.
In 2022, Tom announced his engagement to Rebecca Walker after a romantic proposal in Bali, sharing the moment he got down on one knee as she reacted with shock and joy. But by 2025, it was revealed the couple had quietly gone their separate ways the previous year.
A source said at the time: They quietly split last year. It’s really sad as they were very loved-up and he did this big proposal in Bali, but unfortunately things didn’t work out. Tom keeps a low profile these days and has moved on from his time on TOWIE, so he didn’t want to put a big announcement out there.
Now, with the arrival of baby Ariella, it seems Tom has firmly embraced a new beginning — even if the spotlight, and the scrutiny that comes with it, hasn’t quite left him behind.
