SHE QUIT IN 72 HOURS… NOW SHE WANTS THE CROWN! Gemma Collins once walked away after just 72 hours without completing a single trial — now she’s back and declaring she’s coming for the crown

More than a decade after her infamous jungle exit, Gemma Collins is back—and this time, she’s not running away.

The 45-year-old reality star has admitted that her dramatic departure from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2014 has haunted her ever since, confessing it left her too embarrassed to even face hosts Ant and Dec at showbiz events. Now, stepping into the All Stars edition, she says this comeback is about one thing: redemption.

Gemma openly shared that quitting the show had been a shadow hanging over her for years. She described returning to the jungle as a defining moment in her career, calling it a chance to finally make things right. Being invited back, she said, felt like the greatest honour—and if she were crowned “Legend,” she believes it would make her feel complete.

She also admitted that seeing Ant and Dec again brings a mix of excitement and lingering embarrassment, explaining that she always feared they would remember her as “that girl who left the jungle.” This time, however, she is determined to prove exactly what she’s made of and earn their respect.

Her first stint on the show was widely remembered for all the wrong reasons. Gemma lasted just 72 hours and didn’t even attempt a single Bushtucker Trial, later admitting she hated the experience from the moment she arrived and couldn’t wait to leave. She acknowledged that she gave up before she even started.

But now, her mindset has completely changed.

Gemma insists there is no chance she will walk away early again, declaring she is in it to win it and fully committed to reaching the end. She said she plans to be the best campmate possible, determined to win stars for camp and keep everyone fed, adding confidently that no one will be starving under her watch.

Since her original appearance, Gemma’s career has soared. From Dancing On Ice to MasterChef and multiple reality shows, she has remained a staple of British television. At the same time, she has taken on more personal and emotional projects, including a documentary about self-harm and a Sky series following her IVF journey.

Reflecting on her growth, Gemma said she is now returning as a completely different person. She described herself as a self-made woman who has been through immense challenges to get where she is today. Looking back, she admitted she lacked grounding during her first jungle experience and was more focused on luxury—Range Rovers, designer clothes, and flashy living—than inner strength.

Now, she believes she has done the work to rebuild herself and is heading into the jungle with a stronger mindset and a clearer sense of purpose. She even described the decision to return as something her soul told her was right.

Viewers have already seen a glimpse of her dramatic entrance, arriving in camp wearing a bold lime green kaftan before being thrown straight into a Bushtucker Trial alongside Craig Charles—facing the very challenges she once avoided.

Despite admitting she is still dreading the trials, Gemma is choosing to embrace the experience this time. She said people often see the big hair, the makeup, the eyelashes, and the bravado—but now, she wants them to see the real Gemma Collins.

And perhaps most tellingly of all, she is ready for people to finally get to know her—not just the persona, but the woman behind it.
