Zoe Ball has delivered a truly uplifting update about her father, beloved TV legend Johnny Ball, revealing he is “fine and dandy and loving life” — and even back on the ski slopes at 87 following his battle with prostate cancer.
The presenter, 55, took to Instagram to share a joyful glimpse of Johnny enjoying a snowy getaway in Breuil-Cervinia, Italy, alongside his wife Dianne. In the video and photos, the veteran star looked full of energy as he embraced one of his lifelong passions — skiing.

Zoe wrote proudly that her dad was “87 years young and still loving his skiing,” adding that she adored the images of him and her “amazing step mum Di” during their recent trip. She reassured fans with a heartfelt update: he’s doing well, full of life, and clearly not slowing down.
Johnny’s return to the slopes comes after a deeply personal health battle. The TV icon revealed last year that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in August 2022, undergoing months of daily radiation treatment before successfully recovering.

Reflecting on his journey, Johnny admitted life had thrown everything at him, saying he had been “kicked in the teeth in every possible way by life and by situations and by people.” Yet despite the hardships, his outlook remains remarkably positive.
He shared that he still finds himself smiling, explaining that having his wife, his dog, and his life makes him deeply content. He added that he feels lucky to still be fit at 87 and wants to spend whatever time he has left with a smile on his face.

At one point during his diagnosis, Johnny revealed he and his wife even discussed whether he might be nearing the end. He admitted he had come to terms with the possibility and even felt “quite pleased” in a way — having made peace with his life. But doctors later reassured him that treatment would be effective, giving him renewed hope.
Now cancer-free, Johnny described his recovery as a huge relief, saying it feels like he has been “blessed with more years.”
Despite decades in the spotlight — from his rise to fame in the 1960s with Play School to a career spanning over 70 years — Johnny shows no signs of stopping. In fact, he is preparing to release his second memoir, Stories That Must Be Told!, proving his passion for life and storytelling is stronger than ever.

His remarkable fitness also plays a key role in his recovery. Johnny revealed he keeps himself in shape with a simple six-to-seven-minute daily workout, including stretching and light weightlifting, alongside a balanced diet — though he cheekily admitted he still enjoys “two pints” in the evening.
For Zoe, the moment clearly meant more than just a family holiday snapshot. It was a powerful reminder of resilience, recovery, and the joy of seeing a loved one not just survive — but truly live again.
