BBC Star Finnian Garbutt, 28, Shares a Heartbreaking Final Update — But His Last Words Leave Everyone Stunned as His Battle with Terminal C.a.n.c.e.r Enters Its Final Days

BBC actor Finnian Garbutt has delivered a deeply emotional update, revealing he is now in a hospice bed as his battle with terminal cancer reaches its final stages.

The 28-year-old Hope Street star, who plays Ryan Power in the Northern Ireland-based crime drama, shared the devastating news with fans via Instagram — just weeks after announcing that his condition had worsened significantly.

Posting a photo of himself lying in a hospice bed, Finnian wrote a short but powerful message: A day in bed supplied by @nihospice. Thank you that have supported me and my family. I will no longer be sharing my GoFundMe page, but it is still active in bio. Love you all folks.

His words, though brief, struck a chord with fans who have followed his journey since he first revealed his diagnosis.

Earlier this month, Finnian had already prepared his supporters for the heartbreaking reality. In a candid message, he explained that recent scans showed his cancer had “progressed rapidly” and that he was now “entering the last stages of life”.

He wrote that it had become too difficult to tell everyone individually, adding that by sharing the news publicly, he hoped to spend his remaining time focusing on what mattered most — his “amazing family and friends”.

Despite the devastating prognosis, Finnian’s reflection on his life painted a picture not of loss, but of extraordinary resilience and achievement. Since being diagnosed at just 25, he revealed he had fulfilled many of his dreams: appearing in 30 episodes of a TV series, landing a leading role in an upcoming film, buying his own home, marrying his best friend, and becoming a father to a baby girl who “never fails to make me smile”.

His journey began when he discovered a lump behind his ear, initially dismissing it as an ingrown hair. But after his barber noticed it had grown significantly, further tests led to a devastating diagnosis — stage 3 skin cancer that had already spread to his neck.

In 2022, Finnian underwent a gruelling 12-hour operation in which 75 lymph nodes were removed from his face and neck in an attempt to halt the disease.

Now, as he faces the final chapter of his fight, his message remains one of gratitude, openness, and connection. He even invited friends and fans to reach out, saying that if anyone wanted to meet for a pint, coffee, or simply a chat, he would try to make it happen.

He signed off his message simply, but poignantly: Love as always Finnian.
