A bitter family rift has erupted back into the spotlight after Emma Kivell, the ex-girlfriend of Coleen Nolan’s son Shane, launched a scathing attack on the Loose Women star — branding her a “cruel bully” and accusing her of years of toxic behaviour.
Emma, who shares daughter Amelia-Rose with Shane, claims what began as a seemingly supportive relationship with Coleen quickly turned sour. The pair met in 2015 and welcomed their daughter a year later, with Shane reportedly promising to support Emma as a single mother despite their unconventional situation.
But according to Emma, the reality behind the scenes was far darker.
She alleged that Coleen eventually distanced herself from her granddaughter, even refusing to visit Amelia-Rose because she did not want to come to Emma’s home. The situation, Emma says, took a serious toll on her mental health and contributed to a breakdown.
Speaking candidly, Emma claimed the TV star subjected her to relentless verbal abuse. She said Coleen would call her “every name under the sun,” including branding her a “jealous b***h,” adding that the behaviour was “vile.”
Emma went on to describe a power imbalance she felt throughout the ordeal, saying Coleen made it clear “she’s in charge, she’s got the power, and I’m nothing.”
The shocking accusations come amid a long-running family feud that has reportedly left Coleen estranged from her granddaughter for nearly seven years. Despite being present at Amelia-Rose’s birth in 2016, sources claim there is now “no contact” between the child and the Nolan family.
Shane himself has previously insisted he has financially supported his daughter, telling fans: “I would never not pay. We miss her and can’t wait for one day for her to be in our lives.”
However, Emma has fiercely disputed that claim, alleging Shane made little effort to be present as a father. She said he rarely checked in on their daughter and failed to provide consistent support, particularly during the pandemic, adding that payments only resumed due to court enforcement.
In an emotional statement, Emma revealed how her daughter would wait by the door for a father who often failed to show up, saying the care Amelia received when he did visit “was far from what she deserved.”
She also accused the Nolan family of bringing “pettiness” and “toxicity” into the situation, insisting her daughter is better off surrounded by a “strong, supportive and loving” environment on her side.
“She doesn’t need your pettiness, or the toxicity from your side of the family,” Emma said, adding that Coleen appears to have “written her own version of the story” over the years.
The drama has only intensified interest in Coleen’s personal life, particularly as her son Shane has since moved on. He found love again with mortgage manager Kimberley Sallis, who has a daughter of her own, before later marrying former Miss Great Britain Maddie Wahdan in 2022 — though the marriage ended the following year amid cheating allegations.
Meanwhile, Coleen has yet to publicly respond to Emma’s latest claims.
