Catherine Harding, Jude Law’s ex, has officially hit back at Chappell Roan after the singer denied any involvement in the incident that left her 11-year-old daughter in tears, insisting: “He was with the singer.”

Jude Law’s former partner Catherine Harding has publicly hit back at Chappell Roan after the singer denied any involvement in a shocking incident that allegedly left her 11-year-old daughter in tears.

The controversy erupted after claims surfaced that a security guard linked to the Pink Pony Club singer confronted the child during a hotel stay in São Paulo, Brazil — an encounter Catherine insists was both “aggressive” and “intimidating.”

While Chappell quickly took to social media to distance herself from the situation, insisting the man was not her personal security and that she “did not ask anyone to approach” the child, Catherine has now shared a very different account.

Speaking on Instagram, she said she was certain the individual was not hotel staff. She explained that the man “looks after artists” and was accompanying the singer, adding that while she couldn’t confirm whether he was officially Chappell’s personal guard, he was clearly part of her entourage.

Catherine questioned whether such behaviour could happen without the singer’s authority, saying she didn’t know if Chappell had sent him, but stressing that celebrities carry responsibility for how those working around them act. She added that if he acted without approval, that raised an even bigger concern about how the singer is being represented.

Recounting the moment, Catherine insisted her daughter had done nothing wrong. She explained the child had no phone, didn’t attempt to take photos, and simply walked past, smiled, and admired the artist quietly. According to her, the situation escalated when the security guard approached their table and began reprimanding her.

She described how he accused them of harassment and criticised her parenting, despite her attempts to calmly explain that her daughter was just a fan excited to see someone she admired. Catherine also noted that her daughter, growing up around public figures, understands boundaries — but said the guard refused to listen.

The incident proved especially upsetting as the trip had been a birthday treat for the young girl, who had specifically asked to attend Chappell’s show. Catherine revealed the experience was so distressing they ended up skipping the concert altogether.

She said she hoped Chappell had no knowledge of what happened, adding that she still believed the singer to be “very, very talented” and someone they had admired enough to travel to Brazil to see. However, she also expressed hope that the star would “learn a lesson” and ensure people working around her treat fans — especially children — with kindness.

Meanwhile, in a moment that offered a stark contrast, Catherine later thanked Lewis Capaldi for his warmth after he happily posed for photos with her daughter at Lollapalooza. She shared an image of the smiling youngster alongside the Scottish singer, praising his kindness after what had been a difficult experience.

Earlier, Chappell Roan had shared her own version of events in a video, insisting she never saw the mother or child and had no involvement in the confrontation. She said it was unfair for security to assume bad intentions without any reason and apologised to the pair if they felt uncomfortable, adding they “did not deserve that.”

But with both sides standing firm — and a young fan caught in the middle — the fallout shows no sign of fading anytime soon.
