Her Light Is Fading Fast: MAFS Star Mel Schilling Reveals Shocking Brain C.a.n.c.e.r Spread After Two Years of a Brutal Fight

Mel Schilling has shared the heartbreaking news that her cancer has now spread to her brain, leaving the Married At First Sight expert facing what she described as the most devastating chapter of her health battle yet.

The TV star, 54, first revealed in December 2023 that she had been diagnosed with colon cancer after doctors discovered a tumour “the size of a lemon” during a scan. She said the 5cm growth, which she nicknamed “Terry”, was successfully removed, and at first she believed she had been given the all clear.

But just months later, during a routine scan in February 2024, doctors found small nodules in her lungs, confirming that the cancer had metastasised. From that point on, Mel’s world changed again as she began an exhausting new stage of treatment while continuing to work on MAFS.

Over the past two years, she underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy and was later told she was eligible for a groundbreaking clinical trial tailored to her gene type, which had been due to begin in March 2026. For a moment, Mel said, that news gave her fresh hope that she might still beat the disease.

Instead, over Christmas, she began suffering from blinding headaches and numbness down the right side of her body. After further tests, doctors discovered the cancer had spread to the left side of her brain.

Despite undergoing radiotherapy, Mel said her oncology team has now told her there is nothing more they can do. In a deeply emotional statement, she admitted: “Hearing those words changes everything.”

She also laid bare the severity of her condition, writing: “My light is starting to fade — and quickly. But I am still here, still fighting, and surrounded by the most incredible love.”

Sharing a family photo with her husband Gareth and their 10-year-old daughter Madison, Mel said everyday life has become much harder and that she is now depending heavily on those closest to her. She confessed: “Simple tasks have become incredibly difficult and I am relying on my beautiful family to look after me.”

In one of the most emotional lines of her message, Mel wrote: “I honestly don’t know how long I have left, but I do know I will fight to my last breath and will be surrounded by the love and support of my people.”

Even in the middle of such devastating news, Mel used her update to urge others not to ignore worrying symptoms. She told her followers: “If something doesn’t feel right, please get it checked out. It might just save your life.”

Her final words were dedicated to the family who are now standing beside her through the darkest moment of all. “These two beside me are my everything,” she wrote. “With love and gratitude, Mel.”
