“FROM TRAITOR TO CASTLE LORD!”: Alan Carr Spends £3.25 Million on a 16-Bedroom, 160-Acre Castle After His Celebrity Traitors Victory

Comedian Alan Carr has taken his love for castles to a whole new level — splashing out a staggering £3.25 million on his very own historic estate in the Scottish Borders, fresh from his victorious stint on Celebrity Traitors.

The 49-year-old funnyman, who enjoyed a career resurgence after winning the first series of the hit BBC show, appears to have been inspired by the grandeur of Ardross Castle, where The Traitors is filmed. Now, he’s secured his own slice of baroque splendour — purchasing Ayton Castle with ambitious plans to transform it into a luxury hotel and spa.

Speaking about his jaw-dropping investment, Alan joked: “Some men when they have a midlife crisis buy a Lamborghini or grow a ponytail, but me — I want my very own castle. Since I was a boy in Northampton, I’ve always dreamt big and have always been enchanted with the history and romance of a stately home. As I turn 50, I feel it’s time. All I want is a turret to call my own — get me over that drawbridge.”

And fans won’t have to wait long to see inside.

Alan revealed he has signed a seven-figure deal with Disney+ to document the full renovation in a brand-new series, currently working under the title Castle Man. The project is reportedly being produced by Expectation — the powerhouse behind Clarkson’s Farm — promising drama, disasters and plenty of Carr-style comedy along the way.

The sprawling estate boasts 16 bedrooms, a jaw-dropping 160 acres of gardens, and even its own miniature railway — making it one of the most extravagant purchases of Alan’s career.

But the castle coup may come at a cost.

Insiders suggest his packed schedule means his hit BBC renovation show with Amanda Holden, Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job, could be rested this year. The duo had reportedly clashed with the BBC over potential filming locations — with Amanda and Alan keen on Japan, while bosses favoured the more budget-friendly Scandinavia.

A source claimed that as their diaries filled with other projects, it became impossible to commit to filming this year. However, fans have been reassured the series will return once both stars can align schedules and agree on a dream destination.

Meanwhile, Alan’s calendar is already bursting at the seams. Alongside the Disney+ castle series, he’s reportedly signed projects with two additional streaming platforms and has wiped out much of 2027 for a major stand-up tour.

From reality TV winner to castle-owning showman — Alan Carr is truly living like royalty.
