Max George has once again been rushed to hospital for emergency surgery, exactly one year after having a pacemaker fitted, leaving fans deeply concerned

Max George has been rushed to hospital following an emergency operation, just a year after having a pacemaker fitted, leaving fans deeply concerned for the singer’s health.

The The Wanted star revealed he had been taken to A&E in the early hours of Tuesday morning and shared a raw snap from his hospital bed on Instagram. Clearly exhausted and frustrated, Max wrote: “What now ffs. This s**t ALWAYS happens in the middle of the night.” He also referenced his beloved pet, adding: “Poor Albert.”

Hours later, Max posted another selfie to his Instagram Stories, telling followers he was “running HOT,” fuelling worries about his condition.

The hospital dash comes just weeks after Max opened up about ongoing health fears linked to his heart. The singer, who rose to fame alongside Nathan Sykes, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and the late Tom Parker, explained last month that he had returned for further tests after undergoing multiple heart surgeries.

Speaking candidly, Max said he was back in the same building where he had previously undergone heart operations, admitting it was far from comforting. He revealed doctors had carried out a scan on his chest after discovering an issue with one of his lungs, stressing at the time that it was a precaution and should be fine.

Max’s health battle has been ongoing since 2024, when he underwent emergency surgery and had a pacemaker fitted following a terrifying heart episode. Last year, he described being rushed to hospital after suffering an arrhythmia, explaining that the top half of his heart was beating normally while the bottom half raced dangerously fast and out of sync.

He admitted the experience was “scary” but said medication had helped stabilise his condition. Still, the singer confessed that life had changed dramatically, particularly when it came to exercise. Max explained he now has to be extremely careful with physical activities he once loved, including football and skiing, as he depends on the pacemaker and cannot risk damaging it. As he put it: “It is what it is, you have to get on with it.”

Reflecting on how suddenly everything changed, Max previously said the whole ordeal came “out of nowhere,” revealing that he had just completed a US tour and felt perfectly healthy before collapsing at home. Before he could process what was happening, he found himself living with a pacemaker.

Despite the repeated setbacks, Max has been vocal about his determination to return to the stage. He admitted that all he wanted was to get back to work, but was dealt another blow when he needed to undergo further surgery, which took months to heal from. Speaking optimistically, he recently said he hoped this latest episode would come with “a little less drama.”
