Katie Price’s whirlwind marriage has taken yet another explosive turn, after her new husband Lee Andrews publicly challenged her ex-husband Alex Reid to a fight following his scathing comments about their shock wedding.
The former glamour model, who is a mum of five, tied the knot with Lee in Dubai last week after knowing him in person for just days — a decision that immediately raised eyebrows among fans and critics alike.
Alex, who was married to Katie from 2010 to 2012, broke his silence shortly after the wedding and branded the marriage “irresponsible”, saying it placed unnecessary strain on her family and children. While he claimed he wished the couple “good luck”, his remarks quickly turned sharp as he suggested Lee might end up helping Katie deal with long-standing financial issues.
Alex went on to say that he hoped the marriage would last longer than the court-ordered debts he claims Katie still owes him and others, adding pointedly that accountability and responsibility were “not really her strong point”. He added that perhaps Lee could end up being “the best thing in the world” to happen to her — a comment that many saw as thinly veiled criticism.
But Lee was clearly unimpressed by the remarks. Hitting back, he issued a bold challenge to Alex, declaring that he was willing to fight him “anytime, anywhere” — whether in Britain, Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
The row comes amid further confusion over the couple’s immediate plans after their wedding. Lee had initially announced that he would be flying to the UK to be with his new wife, praising Katie for returning home quickly to be with her children. However, just days later, he appeared to change course and confirmed he would remain in the UAE instead.
Lee told followers that Katie would now be flying back out to join him, as the newlyweds plan to reunite abroad and enjoy some winter sun together.
The rapid-fire romance has continued to divide opinion, especially given that Katie confirmed her split from long-term boyfriend JJ Slater just 11 days before announcing her engagement to Lee. The Dubai ceremony marked Katie’s fourth marriage and ninth engagement — and by far her quickest, after knowing her husband for only a matter of days before saying “I do”.
