Brooklyn Beckham has spoken out bluntly about claims that his wife, Nicola Peltz, manipulates and controls every decision he makes

Brooklyn Beckham has hit back through close friends at what they describe as “deeply sexist and misogynistic” claims that his wife, Nicola Peltz, is controlling his decisions, insisting the 26-year-old is “very much his own man”.

Amid renewed speculation that 2026 will bring no respite from the Beckham family drama, sources close to Brooklyn have spoken out to defend both him and Nicola from accusations that she is “calling the shots” in his estrangement from his parents.

According to one insider, the narrative is not only outdated but offensive, stressing that Brooklyn does not tolerate his wife being vilified. They said the idea of blaming a woman for a man’s choices is “a story as old as time” and “deeply insulting”, adding that Brooklyn has consciously chosen his own path away from his family.

The comments come after it emerged that David Beckham and Victoria Beckham were left devastated when they received a legal request last summer asking them to cease direct contact with Brooklyn and Nicola, and to stop referencing them on social media. The letter, sent on behalf of the couple, reportedly followed repeated attempts by Brooklyn to set boundaries that he felt were ignored.

A source familiar with the situation insisted the move was not taken lightly, explaining that Brooklyn felt he had no other option left and acted to protect himself after his wishes were repeatedly dismissed. While the request has not led to formal legal action, the approach is said to have blindsided David and Victoria, who believed they were trying to resolve tensions rather than escalate them.

Despite the fracture, those close to the Beckhams maintain that the door remains open. Friends say David and Victoria remain hopeful of reconciliation and will always be there for their son, even as the rift appears to have deepened following Brooklyn and Nicola’s absence from David’s 50th birthday celebrations.

The feud has been further fuelled by claims from Nicola’s circle that she helped Brooklyn recognise what they described as emotionally toxic behaviour within his family — allegations that were firmly denied by Beckham insiders at the time. However, sources insist Brooklyn remains close to both sets of grandparents, with one saying that while his relationship with his parents may be “over for now”, the love he has for his wider family “has never faltered”.
