Eamonn Holmes fears that the 22-year age gap could cause his girlfriend Katie Alexander to “change her mind” and walk away — especially as he faces ongoing health issues and intense public scrutiny. The veteran TV presenter is said to be doing everything he can to protect and preserve his relationship with Katie Alexander

Eamonn Holmes is reportedly doing everything in his power to protect his relationship with girlfriend Katie Alexander, amid claims he worries his personal struggles could push her away.

The former This Morning star, 66, began dating Katie, 43, following his shock split from Ruth Langsford in 2024 — a breakup that stunned fans after more than a decade of marriage.

Despite appearing loved-up over the summer, including a glamorous Ibiza getaway, insiders say Eamonn has privately been battling fears that their 22-year age gap could threaten their future. According to one source, he knows he is “lucky” to have met Katie and is determined to hold onto her, admitting she is “a gorgeous woman in her prime” and worrying her head could be turned.

Over Christmas, the presenter treated Katie to a £270-a-night luxury stay at Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate, and she has continued to support him at key social events — including GB News host Nana Akua’s engagement party and a November gathering at billionaire John Caudwell’s Mayfair home.

However, the relationship has reportedly faced turbulence, fuelled by Eamonn’s ongoing health problems. Following complications from spinal surgery that have left him with reduced mobility, sources claim he has become increasingly withdrawn, spending more time in his native Belfast with family — often without Katie.

One insider suggested his health struggles have affected his mood, saying he can become frustrated when work or physical setbacks go wrong. Despite this, Eamonn is said to make a conscious effort to shield Katie from his darker moments, bottling things up because he doesn’t want to “scare her off”.

Katie, a mum-of-one, has reportedly reassured friends that the pair remain solid, telling them: “It’s the two of us. Always and forever.”

The pressure has also spilled into Eamonn’s professional life. He was recently left visibly angry on GB News after being cut off mid-rant while discussing his health issues during a heated debate. Opening up on air, he admitted his medical condition has left him urgently needing the toilet at times, before producers instructed him to move on — prompting an irritated response as he felt the point hadn’t been properly addressed.

Friends now say Eamonn is focused on making Katie as happy as possible, determined not to let ill health, work stress or self-doubt derail what he believes could be a fresh start after one of the most difficult periods of his life.
