Coronation Street star Sue Devaney has tied the knot in a heartwarming secret ceremony with her partner of many years, BBC journalist Jim O’Farrell – and the first photos have fans swooning.

The 57-year-old actress, best known for her role as Debbie Webster in the iconic ITV soap, looked absolutely radiant in a bold red off-the-shoulder gown, complete with ruched details and a pearl-encrusted tiara. The couple exchanged vows earlier this year in Skipton, North Yorkshire, three years after getting engaged.
Jim perfectly complemented his bride with a red tie and matching pocket square, along with a classic boutonnière – adding a subtle, stylish touch to the occasion.
The ceremony was deliberately low-key, with close friends and family present. A source close to the couple shared: “It was a beautiful day. Sue looked like a million dollars. It was a lovely and intimate celebration, very true to who they are.”

Sue, who once described herself as “married to the job,” previously admitted she never saw marriage or motherhood as part of her journey. Speaking in 2016, she said: “I never married because I was always focused on work. I never had children, and now that I’m nearly 50, I think I’ve missed that opportunity.”
Her candid reflections only add to the poignancy of this special moment – her first-ever wedding at the age of 57.
Sue first joined Coronation Street in 1984 but left after six months. She returned in 2019 after a 34-year absence, and a year later, her return was made permanent. Outside of soapland, she’s also had a rich theatre career with acclaimed roles in Mamma Mia!, The Wind in the Willows, and When We Were Married.
Now, with a new chapter of love and partnership, Sue Devaney is proving that some of life’s most beautiful moments truly are worth the wait.
