“Life Will Never Be the Same Again” – Davina McCall’s Tearful Reflections After Brain Tumour Surgery
Davina McCall has opened up for the first time since undergoing life-changing brain tumour surgery — revealing just how close she came to saying goodbye, and how the experience has reshaped her outlook forever.

The 57-year-old TV presenter, beloved for her warmth and honesty on screen, revealed in November 2024 that she had undergone surgery to remove a rare benign cyst — a condition that affects just three in a million people. Now, in a deeply emotional interview on her Begin Again podcast, Davina shared the private fears she battled ahead of the procedure, and how she prepared for the worst.
“I felt like this thing had taken control of me,” she confessed. Davina revealed she wrote letters to each of her children — Holly (23), Tilly (21), and Chester (18) — in case she didn’t survive the operation. “You just don’t know what’s going to happen when someone cuts into your brain,” she said quietly.

She also shared that she created a private WhatsApp group before surgery, adding only the people she truly loved — those she wanted to hear any tragic news from first, should things go wrong. “Life will never be the same again,” Davina admitted. “But in rather a good way.”
Now recovering and reflecting on the ordeal, Davina says the experience taught her not to live in fear. “There’s a saying: ‘A life lived in fear is a life half-lived.’ It’s true. If you want to do something, do it. Write your bucket list now.”
Her message is clear: survival brought clarity — and she’s never taking life for granted again.
