Pete Wicks Finally Responds to Paul O’Grady Comparisons: “He Was My Idol – No One Can Replace Him”

Pete Wicks has finally broken his silence on being compared to the late Paul O’Grady — and he’s made it clear that he doesn’t see himself as a replacement.
The former TOWIE star, now 36, has taken a surprising new direction in his career, presenting For Dogs’ Sake, a heartwarming show following abandoned dogs at the Dogs Trust rehoming centre in Essex. The series has already been renewed for two more seasons and a Christmas special.
With Pete’s obvious passion for dogs and onscreen warmth, many fans of For the Love of Dogs have voiced support for him to take over from Paul O’Grady, rather than current host Alison Hammond.

But Pete has responded with humility:
“I don’t feel like the new Paul O’Grady – he was an idol of mine and I don’t think anyone will be able to replace him.”
He added: “Being around animals is the only time I feel truly content. But it’s not about me — it’s about the dogs, and the incredible work of the Dogs Trust.”
Though fans continue to push for Pete to take over the iconic ITV role, he’s staying grounded, putting the animals first and honouring the legacy of a man he calls irreplaceable.
