I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! has been thrown into fresh controversy after David Haye unleashed a string of remarks about women that quickly spiralled into a full-blown sexism storm.
What began as a light-hearted chat about a post-show party took a sharp turn when Haye praised his girlfriend Sian Osborn, saying she was tall, had blue eyes and was “lovely” — before adding the shocking twist that she had “the personality of a proper ugly bird.”

The comment instantly stunned campmates, but Haye doubled down, launching into a controversial theory about what he called “ugly duckling syndrome.” He argued that women who aren’t considered conventionally attractive develop stronger personalities to compensate, while “super pretty girls” often don’t need to.
As the camp fell into awkward silence, Scarlett Moffatt was quick to challenge him, telling him bluntly: “You can’t say that.” But Haye brushed it off and continued, insisting that less attractive women “have to banter and tell jokes” so people overlook their looks.

His comments only escalated further. Haye claimed that women praised for their beauty from a young age grow up believing they can “open any door” without needing personality, adding controversially that “most super pretty girls are just idiots.”
The reaction from the camp was immediate. Beverley Callard fired back, calling his argument “complete claptrap” and questioning whether the same logic applied to men. She told him she had “never heard anything so sexist” in her life.
Even as Haye attempted to shift the conversation, recalling how “only pretty girls” were allowed into London nightclubs when he was younger, the damage had already been done. At one point, he admitted he was “digging” himself into a deeper hole — prompting Beverley to quip that the shovel clearly wasn’t big enough.
Despite the backlash, Haye tried to soften his stance by insisting he would still be with Sian “even if she didn’t look how she looked.” But the remark did little to calm tensions, with Beverley delivering one final cutting line: he may have “hit the jackpot,” but his partner had “got the booby prize.”

Off-screen, the controversy exploded just as quickly. Denise Welch took to social media to question why Haye had been invited back as an All Star at all, branding him a “complete kn*b,” while viewers flooded comment sections with accusations of sexism.
The former boxing champion, who has been in a relationship with Sian since 2020 and previously made headlines for his unconventional love life, now finds himself at the centre of one of the show’s most uncomfortable moments yet — and fans are not letting it slide.
