Viewers were left emotional as Dawn Neesom halted her live broadcast on GB News to deliver a heartfelt health update on colleague Eamonn Holmes, just days after he suffered a shock stroke.
The veteran presenter, 66, was rushed to hospital last week, forcing him to step away from his regular breakfast show — sparking concern among fans and colleagues alike. But in a reassuring moment live on air, Dawn revealed that the situation may not be as bleak as first feared.

She told viewers that everyone at the network was “saddened” by the news, before quickly adding a hopeful update: he is recovering well in hospital, surrounded by his loved ones, and is already “talking and chatting”.
And in a line that instantly lifted spirits, she insisted: he will be back as soon as he can.
Dawn didn’t stop there — she gave a glimpse into the man behind the headlines, saying she has known Eamonn for decades and knows exactly how he responds to adversity. She said he is not a quitter, a remark that drew clear confidence about his comeback.
In a touching on-air moment, she even joked that there’s a TRIC award waiting for him, telling him directly: “You’d better come here and get it — it’s here waiting for you.”

The emotional tribute quickly turned personal as Dawn reflected on their early days working together in the 1990s. She recalled how they were both nervous on their first breakfast TV show, laughing as she admitted his language at the time was “absolutely dreadful” — but also crediting him for instantly putting her at ease.
She added that there is so much love for him from everyone at the channel, before affectionately teasing that while he can be “a little bit moany sometimes,” it’s all part of who he is — “a man of a certain age.”
As the update aired, fans flooded social media with messages of support, many calling him “missed” and praising his resilience, with one viewer writing: “Get well soon, Eamonn. You’re definitely missed.”
